• I am inspired by projects that intervene with traditional systems and use them in ways they were not originally intended.

For example, in my project the Interview Collection, I took the classic and straightforward eCommerce structure and imitated selling intangible attributes like “confidence” that truly cannot be sold, but only really developed through life experience and discipline.

Placing subjective ideas into structured systems can critique or mock the system itself, or to illuminate ways our own manmade systems can stifle our humanity.

  • On the other side of the scale, I’m also interested in simplicity, and minimalism. I love functional design – it just works and serves its use well – this has probably given birth to my love of typography, and my desire to learn more about accessibility in design.

About me.

I often mix mediums of design, illustration, and writing. I rarely consider these separate vehicles, and I don’t think the point of creativity is just to express myself. Instead, it is a tool to respond to, challenge, and serve people.

The act of creating is inextricably tied up with growth. I want to be careful I don’t use my talents to reinforce an echo chamber, but instead to get curious about engaging the world.

  • If you explore my writing, you’ll see I’m interested in tackling subjects of justice, grace, and community through the lens of a designer. It’s an important task because as designers we are more powerful than we think.

We are the ones intertwining imagery and words in an age of informational and visual overload. An ongoing dialogue on how creative skillsets shape communities and society will help us wield our influence thoughtfully to serve our local communities.
